Το "γεια στα χέρια μας ΙV" πάει ένα βήμα parapera!

Γιατί η δημιουργία είναι η ελπίδα και η δύναμή μας.

Για μια ολόκληρη εβδομάδα, το "γεια στα χέρια μας", θα γεμίσει τον 1ο όροφο του parapera με χρώματα, σχήματα, υφές, φόρμες, τρελιάρικες ιδέες, ταλέντο και πολλή θετική ενέργεια!!!
Σε πείσμα των καιρών, εμείς επιμένουμε να δημιουργούμε και να αντιστεκόμαστε στο φόβο, την απογοήτευση, την έλλειψη οράματος και την παραίτηση....
Μοιραζόμαστε την αγάπη μας για το χειροποίητο, στηρίζοντας παράλληλα την παράδοση, την ανακύκλωση και την έκφραση! Λειτουργούμε χωρίς μεσάζοντες και ανεξάρτητα από ισοπεδωτικές «τάσεις της μόδας».
Δημιουργήσαμε αυτό χαρούμενο craft party – Bazaar, γεμάτο καλούδια από τα χεράκια μας, που περιμένουν να γίνουν δικά σας! Στην έκθεσή μας θα βρείτε:
Χριστουγεννιάτικα δώρα – κόσμημα - αξεσουάρ – ένδυμα – χρηστικά και διακοσμητικά αντικείμενα – παιχνίδια – πλεκτά - υφαντά – χάρτινες κατασκευές – ανακύκλωση.
Σας περιμένουμε για να γνωριστούμε, να ανταλλάξουμε ιδέες, να μάθουμε έξυπνες τεχνικές και να δημιουργήσουμε μαζί στα μίνι σεμινάρια που έχουμε ετοιμάσει! 

For an entire week, from 12 to 18 of December you will find us at the Christmas bazaar at Parapera! 
We'll be taking over the first floor and filling it with our creations and lots of energy. In spite of these difficult times we are taking a stand creating and fighting back fear, disappointment and lack of vision. We are not giving up and we are sharing with you our love for handmade creations, traditional and modern as well.
In the bazaar you can find Christmas gifts, jewelry, accessories, knits, weaving, paper creations and recycled creations! There will also be workshops on the weekend and gift surpises!

Etsy Greek Street Team in London


Although Greece is through a very hard economical crisis... our members always find their way for something special!
Last week, 1 and 2 of December the Etsy Greek Street Team graced London with some rays of creativity, brightness and loads of wide smiles. Several of our members, as well as the team itself, were featured on a rather fabulous billboard display in Potters Field Park just across the London Tower Bridge. Even the sun came out to greet us in an otherwise gloomy London. We had a blast engaging in some much needed shameless promotion and we like to think that we helped get Etsy just a little bit more out there :)
Londoners must have liked us on that display since they found their way to our shops so overall I must say mission accomplished.

Παρόλο που η Ελλάδα βρίσκεται σε μια δύσκολη κατάσταση αυτόν τον καιρό τα μέλη της ομάδας πάντα βρίσκουν χρόνο για να κάνουν κάτι το ξεχωριστό!
Την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα, την 1-2 του Δεκέμβρη η Ελληνική ομάδα του Etsy διαφημίστηκε στο Λονδίνο, φέρνοντας τη δημιουργικότητα της αλλά και πολλά χαμόγελα στην πρωτεύουσα της Αγγλίας. Πολλά απο τα μέλη της ομάδας αλλά και η ίδια η ομάδα εμφανίστηκαν σε μια διαφημιστική πινακίδα στο Potters Field Park απέναντι από την London Tower Bridge. Περάσαμε υπέροχα δημιουργώντας τις διαφημίσεις, προβάλλοντας τα μαγαζιά μας αλλά και την ομάδα και φυσικά το Etsy!
Το αποτέλεσμα ήταν εμφανές καθώς αρκετοί Λονδρέζοι βρήκαν τα μαγαζιά μας στο ίντερνετ οπότε ήταν μια επιτυχημένη προσπάθεια!

Smells like Christmas

The beginning of December is when we all bring out the Christmas tree from storage, decorate it with ornaments and lights and put our presents under it. Here are a few suggestions for small spaces and alternative solutions for decorating our home using objects from nature.
Αρχές Δεκεμβρίου και όλοι αρχίζουμε να στολίζουμε τα σπίτια μας ξεκινώντας απο το χριστουγεννιάτικο δέντρο. Βάζουμε τα στολίδια, τα λαμπιόνια και τις γιρλάντες του και απο κάτω βάζουμε τα δωράκια μας. Έτσι λοιπόν αυτή τη φορά θα δούμε λύσεις για μικρούς χώρους αλλά και θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε υλικά απο τη φύση για να στολίσουμε το σπίτι μας!



For small spaces a small tree inside a silver vase (or even in a planter) which you can then place on a table is an ideal solution. You can use big ornaments in red and white with a retro feel, decorating it sparingly and you can even create a small village scene under it or just pile up your presents {image 1}. Creating a centerpiece using pine cones, small pine tree branches and oranges with cloves will bring the smell of Christmas in your home. Score patterns on the oranges with a channel knife, make pilot holes with a small nail, then stud the oranges with whole cloves. You can find a great tutorial on how to make orange pomanders here {image 2}.
Another great decorating idea is using pine cones and walnuts as well but this time you will spay paint then in gold and silver colors, mix them up with gold and silver ornaments and then place them in large cylinder vases or create a centerpiece for you table. This will create a more luxurious mood in your home {image 3}. Finally here is a really simple tutorial on how to make your own tree ornaments using cinnamon sticks and dried orange slices. {image 4} You can buy dried orange slices or make them yourself following this tutorial or this Greek one!

Ιδανική λύση για μικρούς χώρους είναι ενα μικρό δέντρο μέσα σε ασημένιο βάζο (ή ακόμα και στη γλάστρα του) το οποίο μπορείτε να τοποθετήσετε πάνω σε ένα τραπέζι. Χρησιμοποιήστε μεγάλα ρετρό στολίδια σε λευκό και κόκκινο και τοποθετήστε τα αραιά πάνω στο δέντρο ωστε να ξεχωρίζουν. Μπορείτε να δημιουργήσετε μια μικρή παραμυθένια πόλη στη βάση του ή απλώς να τοποθετήσετε τα όμορφα τυλιγμένα δωράκια σας. {εικόνα 1}. Φτιάξτε ένα κεντρικό στολισμό για το τραπέζι σας χρησιμοποιώντας κουκουνάρια, κλαδιά απο έλατο και αρωματικά πορτοκάλια με γαρύφαλο. Με ένα καρφί τρυπήστε πρώτα το πορτοκάλι δημιουργώντας τρύπες - οδηγούς όπου θα βάλετε τα γαρύφαλλα ενώ για τα σχέδια στη φλούδα του πορτοκαλιού χρησιμοποιείται ένα ειδικό μαχαίρι που λέγεται channel knife{εικόνα 2}. Μπορείτε να βρείτε πιο αναλυτικές οδηγίες για να φτιάξετε αρωματικά πορτοκάλια εδώ.
Μια όμορφη ιδέα για να δώσετε ενα τόνο πολυτέλειας στο στολισμό σας, είναι χρησιμοποιήσετε κουκουνάρια και καρύδια τα οποία θα τα βάψετε με χρυσή και ασημένια μπογιά σε σπρέι. Μπορείτε στη συνέχεια να τα βάλετε μαζί με χρυσά και ασημένια στολίδια μέσα σε μεγάλα κυλινδρικά γυάλινα βάζα ή ακόμα και να στολίσετε το τραπέζι σας βάζοντας τα σε μικρότερα βάζα ή γυάλινα μπόλ {εικόνα 3}. Τέλος να ένα γρήγορο tutorial για να φτιάξετε μικρά στολιδάκια για το δέντρο σας χρησιμοποιώντας κανέλα και αποξηραμένες φέτες πορτοκαλιού {εικόνα 4}. Τις αποξηραμένες φέτες πορτοκαλιού μπορείτε να τις αγοράσετε ή να τις φτιάξετε ακολουθώντας τις οδηγίες σε αυτό το tutorial ή τις ελληνικές οδηγιές εδώ!

AW11-12 Fashion Trend Report: Refined Opulence

Surely you must have noticed by now that fashion this fall - winter encompasses references to many different decades. Designers use the opulence of the past, in oder to bring a sign of hope to the present, and so it is this opulence that 'unites' all these different eras into a trend that favours glamour, above everything else: Lace, feathers, brocade and wallpaper fabrics, bow details, lush jewels and fur, to name but just a few elements.
