AW11-12 Fashion Trend Report: Refined Opulence

Surely you must have noticed by now that fashion this fall - winter encompasses references to many different decades. Designers use the opulence of the past, in oder to bring a sign of hope to the present, and so it is this opulence that 'unites' all these different eras into a trend that favours glamour, above everything else: Lace, feathers, brocade and wallpaper fabrics, bow details, lush jewels and fur, to name but just a few elements.

Σίγουρα θα έχετε προσέξει ως τώρα πως η μόδα φέτος το φθινόπωρο - χειμώνα περιλαμβάνει αναφορές σε πολλές διαφορετικές δεκαετίες. Οι σχεδιαστές χρησιμοποιούν τον πλούτο του παρελθόντος, προκειμένου να φέρουν ελπίδα για το παρόν, κι έτσι είναι αυτός ο πλούτος που 'ενώνει' 'ολες αυτές τις διαφορετικές εποχές σε μια τάση που ευνοεί τη λάμψη, πάνω από οτιδήποτε άλλο: Δαντέλα, φτερά, μπροκάρ και βαριά υφάσματα, φιόγκοι, λαμπερά κοσμήματα και γούνα, είναι λίγα μόνο στοιχεία.

Orange and Pomegranate Dessert

Orange and Pomegranate Dessert by Antigoni from Animadesign

Ingredients

8 oranges (it’s preferable to use biological as we are going to use the orange peel as well)
1 pomegranate
1 cup of sugar

Wash the oranges with care.
With a sharp knife peel the oranges and keep the peel (only the orange part) from 6.
Cut the peel in small pieces using the blender.

Fill a pot with water, place the peels and as soon as the water boils, drain the water. Repeat the process 4 or 5 times, to get rid of the bitterness.
When the peels are not bitter any more, place them back in the pot, cover them with water and add the sugar. Boil them until there is no water left. We now have candied peels.

Take the rest of the oranges, peel them, making sure there is no with skin on them. Make sure you keep the juice that's spilled in the process. Cut them in thin slices and layer them in a deep bowl, preferably transparent so that the colors show.



In between the slices layer the pomegranate spores and the juice of the oranges.

(if you want to fill a large bowl then you might need 12 oranges)

On top of the orange layers place the candied peel.
Refrigerate for 3 hours.
An ideal dessert after a meal or a dinner as it is light and cool.

* You can make it in tall glasses or champagne flutes. In that case cut smaller slices.

** Using pomegranate is optional but gives a different color and taste to this dessert!





Επιδόρπιο με Πορτοκάλι και Ρόδι από την Αντιγόνη Animadesign

Υλικά

8-12 πορτοκάλια χωρίς κουκούτσια (κατά προτίμηση αράντιστα, επειδή θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε και
τη φλούδα).
1 ρόδι
1 κούπα ζάχαρη περίπου

Πλένουμε με επιμέλεια τα πορτοκάλια.
Με κοφτερό μαχαίρι καθαρίζουμε μόνο την πορτοκαλί φλούδα από μερικά από τα πορτοκάλια. Πχ. αν έχουμε 8, θέλουμε την φλούδα από τα 6.
Βάζουμε τις φλούδες λίγες- λίγες στο multi και τις γυρίζουμε λίγο, ώστε να κοπούν σε μικρά κομματάκια.
Βάζουμε τις κομμένες φλούδες σε κατσαρόλα με νερό μόλις να τις σκεπάζει και τις βάζουμε να πάρουν μόλις μία βράση. Τις στραγγίζουμε και πετάμε το νερό. Γεμίζουμε με καθαρό νερό την κατσαρόλα, ίσα να σκεπάζονται οι φλούδες και
επαναλαμβάνουμε αυτή τη διαδικασία 4-5 φορές, ώστε να ξεπικρίσουν οι φλούδες.
 Όταν τελειώσουμε το ξεπίκρισμα, βάζουμε πάλι τις φλούδες στην κατσαρόλα με νερό μόλις να τις σκεπάζει και προσθέτουμε ζάχαρη, σε ποσότητα περίπου ίση όσο το νερό. Βράζουμε τις φλούδες με το σιρόπι μέχρι σχεδόν να πιούν το νερό. Θα έχουμε φλούδες γλασέ, σχεδόν χωρίς σιρόπι.

Καθαρίζουμε όλα τα πορτοκάλια, ώστε να μη μείνει καθόλου λευκή φλούδα. Μαζεύουμε τους χυμούς καθώς τα κόβουμε σε λεπτές φέτες* και τις στρώνουμε σε ένα βαθύ σκεύος–σαλατιέρα. Καλύτερα να είναι διάφανο το σκεύος, για να φαίνονται τα χρώματα.
Ρίχνουμε ανάμεσα στις στρώσεις, σπόρους ροδιού** και τους χυμούς των φρούτων.
Να λάβουμε υπ’όψιν ότι για να γεμίσει μία κανονική σαλατιέρα μπορεί να χρειάζονται και 12 πορτοκάλια.

Πάνω από τις φέτες πορτοκαλιού στρώνουμε τις φλούδες γλασέ.
Βάζουμε το γλυκό στο ψυγείο για 3 ώρες.

Η γεύση του δεν επηρεάζεται και αν το ετοιμασουμε απο την προηγουμενη μέρα.
Ιδανικό επιδορπιο για μετα απο ενα γευμα η δείπνο καθώς είναι ελαφρυ και δροσερό!

* Μπορούμε να κάνουμε το γλυκό σε ατομικά μπολάκια, ή σε βερίνες, ή σε ποτήρια σαμπάνιας, οπότε κόβουμε τις φέτες σε μικρότερα κομμάτια.
**Το γλυκό το έχω κάνει πολλές φορές χωρίς ρόδια και είναι επίσης καλό. Με τα ρόδια έχει κι’ άλλο χρώμα κι’ άλλη γεύση. Ρόδια όμως δεν βρίσκουμε όλες τις εποχές.
